Pen and Watercolour
In October 2025, I decided to produce some pen and watercolour paintings and began with this set of iconic Manx scenes.
Having lived on the Isle of Man for a total of 16 years, I feel I know its story and landscape well. The coastal light is ideal for the artist, offering a clarity not always found inland. I’m looking forward to painting more in this style.

One of my favourite Manx scenes - Peel on a sunny day!
This is the first time I've painted this with pen & watercolour.

Peel is an ancient town on the west coast of the Isle of Man. It is full of narrow streets and quirky cottages. The church in this painting is the island’s cathedral which has a superbly renovated interior. A mile away id the ancient cathedral located in the castle grounds.

One of my favourite places on the Isle of Man. Not only is the surrounding scenery beautiful, it’s also a very peaceful place!

This lighthouse is located on the north coast of the Isle of Man. It’s a superb location to visit, especially if you're looking for a little peace!

It was the variety of architecture of this section of buildings that capture my interest. Fort Anne Rd leads on to Douglas Head and Manx Radio where there are fine views across Douglas Bay.

I've been enjoying watching Riot Women (BBC1). It's set in Hebden Bridge (West Yorkshire) where I've spent 2 holidays in recent years. It's a lively place and community! I've been prompted to look at holiday photos and do one or two paintings. This pen and watercolour is the first.
