Watercolor painting of a white building with three large windows, some with wooden lattice. There are colorful string lights hanging below the windows, and a blue sky with clouds is reflected in the windows.

Finding beauty in the ordinary

A smiling older man with glasses and a plaid shirt standing in front of a wooden background.

I hope you enjoy exploring the paintings on this site. If you have any questions about my artwork, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My primary goal is to discover beauty in the ordinary and capture it in watercolour paint. You'll notice that I love to paint light and shadow. Watercolour is, to me, the best medium for this.

An artist's workspace with a colorful paint palette, brushes, a jar of blue water, and a white paint mixing tray, all covered in blue, green, yellow, and pink paint splatters.

Art Journal

In 2024 I started keeping a journal of my art. This started as I kept a record of notes etc when I was completing an art course, ‘Find your joy’ with artist, Louise Fletcher.

When the course ended I continued keeping a record of all paintings I completed, along with notes about them. This video includes pages from the journal.

Testimonials 2026

Hi Peter… it’s arrived and I’m delighted with it .. you’ve captured exactly what I wanted and I’m sure ‘x’ will be thrilled with it. He’s here in April…           Thank you, it’s brilliant….

The painting arrived this morning and what a delight. Thanks for your vision and excellent painting from a black and white photo.

Thanks, Peter. I love it!  Really captures the house perfectly.

Hi Peter, It’s arrived! Thank you, it’s lovely. Now to get it framed! Beautiful card as well. Such talent.

The paintings arrived safely this morning, very quick delivery.  I am very pleased with them, and thanks for the ‘extra’ of Ramsey.  Now I just have to get them framed, and then the pleasure of finding somewhere in the house to hang them!

Iris 21 × 12cm (unframed)

NOT FOR SALE

I painted this iris at 5 am on 4 May 2026. It was my wife’s birthday and I made this into a card.

I’ve not painted flowers before, but I so enjoyed working on this that I think I’ll be doing more!

See the ‘Flowers’ page or more.
