Finding beauty in the ordinary

I hope you enjoy exploring the paintings on this site. If you have any questions about my artwork, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My primary goal is to discover beauty in the ordinary and capture it in watercolour paint. You'll notice that I love to paint light and shadow. Watercolour is, to me, the best medium for this.

This must be one of the best located churches in the British Isles! It's St Monans, East Fife, Scotland. I was staying in a cottage nearby a couple of weeks ago. I was there for the annual Pittenweem Arts Festival just up the road and was inspired to do this watercolour of the church.

Laxey Lighthouse

48 × 34cm (unframed)

I lived 400 meters from this lighthouse in Laxey (Isle of Man). It’s one of two lighthouses in Laxey Harbour. To me, there’s something serene about these wonderful structures, especially in calm weather. Its a respite for the building before the next storm when it’s work becomes especially important!

Who wouldn’t want to sit on one of the best beaches on the Isle of Man with this lighthouse in view? This is my latest watercolour of Port Erin Lighthouse in the South of the island. In the distance Bradda Head is also in view.

Sailing at Castletown (Isle of Man)
£195.00

32 × 48cm (unframed)

I lived in Castletown for 7 years. The sea wasn't always this calm - but when it was it was a wonderful sight. Having said that, stormy seas can be just as wonderful to watch.

This is the Point of Ayre Lighthouse in the North of the Isle of Man. It's another beautiful setting - remote, peaceful, lots of birdlife in the surrounding area. Nature at its best!
